Who wants vegemite? Creating a handshake with Kayla Pothan on the Seabourn Quest

Six Word Handshake Story #9: Vegemite Shake Throwing Down NZ Haka.

My first tasting of vegemite was when I lived in Australia in 2016. I can recall it not being a food item I would go out of my way to purchase or eat. In this case, my New Zealand coworker and hair stylist Kayla Pothon had some on board the Seabourn Quest, and we decided to incorporate it into our quick and creative handshake. After Kayla hands me the vegemite, the handshake concludes with both of us mimicking a haka seen at New Zealand All Blacks rugby games. The haka is a war chant performed in front of their rugby opponent before games. We came up with this idea because Kayla is from Taupo, New Zealand. My other work colleague Sarah is a pedicurist and manicurist who can be seen in the back of the video walking in at the ideal time.

Thank you, Kayla, for sharing vegemite and the haircuts YOU provided me, as well as helping me with my first “Sea Sickness” experience! And, of course, appreciative of Sarah (Ashley) in the back, who gave me my first pedicure and manicure while in Chile. Thank YOU!
