Sharing perspectives of people living in Medellín and other areas of Colombia in English and Spanish.
I want to share and promote the people I have the opportunity to meet while living in Medellin, Colombia, and share what they do for projects, businesses, and endeavors while residing in Medellín, Colombia. Once getting outside the areas where you find many extranjeros (foreigners), the culture here is full of passion through the number of cultures of dance that exist all over the city with reggaeton, salsa, bachata, and tango. Medellin is quickly becoming one of the best locations for Digital Nomads with the cost of living being affordable, tranquil climate year-round, excellent public transportation, easy lifestyle, friendly people, safe and low crime (but as always, you need to practice smart judgment and take extreme ownership for the situations and people you decide to hang out with) and a robust entrepreneur community growing by the day. This can be seen in the city's prosperity with new businesses, restaurants, and housing projects being developed. I've been living in Medellin for over a year, and since this time, I have come to meet many locals and extranjeros. Many people who only travel as tourists and are in Medellín for a short period miss out on forming these deeper relationships. For example, I have taken over eight months of Tango classes and have submerged myself in the Medellín culture of tango. From this, I have gone to several tango competitions and met many locals who deeply love the dance and the culture. The Medellín, Colombia Spotlight Series is excellent for individuals who are planning to travel to Medellín and are looking for recommendations of activities or people to get to know and hang out with from a more intimate perspective by hearing from people that have helped with making my time in Medellín a genuinely incredible time of my life.
Medellín is home to over 4 million inhabitants if we count the neighboring areas to Medellín as Envigado, Sabaneta, Itagüí, and Bello. Medellín is the eternal spring because it is the same weather year-round. A pleasant 62 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit year-round with very few times the temperature drops below 58 degrees Fahrenheit, and very few times the temperature gets 85 degrees Fahrenheit. The only seasons that exist are rainy and less rainy. It isn't unusual for it to rain every day in the month, or at least it feels like it, but it never rains for the entire day. The sun is always out every day, and it can rain quite hard in a short amount of time, creating flooding conditions. Still, the city always manages to drain the water with the Rio Medellín that runs through the middle of the city to help drain the rainfall. Medellin is a great city to live in or call your home based on the culture, friendliness, social activities, business opportunities, and cost of living, which make it a magical place to spend your time on earth. I believe there is no one place that is perfect for everyone. For me, Medellín has been one of my favorite places to live up until this point in my life of 28 years on earth.
On top of everything I just mentioned, I believe a place is meaningful and unique to a person based on the people one meets there and develops relationships with. I encourage you to watch and read about the people I have the opportunity to meet and promote what they are doing in Medellín, Colombia, which you won't see anywhere else in a conversational style with lots of videos to allow you to understand what it is they do exactly and direct you to how to get in contact with them. Thank you for reading, and see you in my Medellín, Colombia Spotlight Series!
