Thank you to Barika Poole for sharing her time on a Friday afternoon and allowing me to film our conversation during my lunch break. I know Barika from knowing Desmond Garcia, and Barika is an Environmental and Civil engineer who studied at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), has her consulting firm, and works closely with nonprofit projects focused on clean water access as well as helping to empower the community they are helping to provide the water. This was an enlightening conversation I had with Barika where she brought to the attention aspects I wasn't aware of, for example, big aid contracts that take place between countries after a disaster. For example, the abundance of rice delivered to Haiti still after the country wasn't in crisis mode after some time had passed after them experiencing the big earthquake. Of course, just like so many places on this planet, they still need help and continued economic development. My point is Barika mentioned to me an example of ineffective relief aid that exists throughout our world, and she wants to be an individual who helps solve that or prevent that. It was interesting to hear a little about how she got into working with water and how that became her professional work. Barika, thank you again for your time, and let's have a life sharing and enjoying clean water with others.
