Book Review Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman

SIX WORD 📚 SUMMARY: Endlessly Intrigued By The Human Mind

Xander Clemens reading the book A Sense of the World by Jason Roberts

Shout out to artists James Temte and Michael Conti for your creating of the "The Eyes of Spenard" mural. Located on the corner of Spenard Road and 30th Ave in Anchorage, Alaska. A mural that could reinforce human behavior from the notion of being watched. Thinking Fast and Slow by 2002 Nobel Prize Winner Daniel Kahneman will deliver value to a reader looking to go deeper into the understanding of our mind and utilize the path of least resistance when making different decisions. By making sense of how our minds work, we can better adjust our attention to our thoughts and behaviors. That being said, that is a lifetime mental mindful practice. I enjoyed the breakdown of anchoring for the mind, availability science, loss aversion, framing, and sunk costs mentioned in the book. Not to mention the bevy of interesting people I learned about from reading this book, which I didn't know about before.

My favorite quotes from Daniel Kahneman

"This is the essence of intuitive heuristics: when faced with a difficult question, we often answer an easier one instead, usually without noticing the substitution."

"The confidence that individuals have in their beliefs depends mostly on the quality of the story they can tell about what they see, even if they see little."

"You are more likely to learn something by finding surprises in your own behavior than by hearing surprising facts about people in general."

"Nothing in life is as important as you think it is, while you are thinking about it"

"Intelligence is not only the ability to reason; it is also the ability to find relevant material in memory and to deploy attention when needed."
