Book Review HOW TO WALK by Thich Nhat Hanh

SIX-WORD 📚 SUMMARY - When Waling Move With Beautiful Observation

When going to the top of Mt. Roberts in Juneau, Alaska, one needs to hike, which means walking. This is why I read HOW TO WALK by Thich Nhat Hanh. A mindfulness book on the walking activity (one that just about every human can perform). This book highlights how to get nourished by life by living in the present moment. The biggest takeaway I received from this book is to remind myself that we all can be in the moment when we walk throughout our day, take notice of the earth, the weather, our surroundings, and other animals, and breathe.

My favorite quote from How To Walk

“When we notice the presence of anger, fear, and agitation in us, we don’t need to throw them away. We only have to breathe in and out consciously and take a mindful step. Allow yourself to sink deeply into the here and the now because life is available only in the present moment. This alone is enough to calm the storm." - Thich Nhat Hanh
