If you were to ask anyone on the Seabourn Quest, they wouldn't be able to tell you much about Seydisfjorður, other than it has a waterfall. And that is probably better than anyone else you were to ask outside of the cruise ship I am working on. Seydisfjörður is a small town of under 700 people in East Iceland. The economy and history are tied to the fishing industry, and in recent times, like the time I was there, is increasing in tourism. And the reason a large ship like the Seabourn Quest was able to dock here is because the town has a large harbor. You can find a write-up of the history and culture of this town on
guidetoiceland.is.
It is most certainly a town surrounded by nature, mountains waterfalls, and views of the harbor and the sea to make it a peaceful and tranquil place to visit and spend time immersed in and around nature. An excellent website world-of-waterfalls.com that documents the waterfalls here and all over the world, Bryan Cheng wrote a great article on the
waterfalls that exist in Seydisfjorður.
Mhark Almodal and Jomari Daep are from the Philippines and work in the Housekeeping Department. I have gotten to know them from working with them and seeing them on the different ship decks. There would be numerous times I would have the honor of training them in one of my group fitness classes for crew members in the evening. Much thanks to Mhark Almodal and Jomari Daep for the creative lunchtime handshake! Very appreciative of your gentleman's time and glad you enjoyed the waterfall with epic jumping pics. Thank you, Filipino Gangster Squad!
