6 Word Handshake story #27: Embracing Police Hats and Banksy Bananas

I'm in the process of going through my second training to be able to work on a cruise contract. The company I am contracting for is Park West Gallery, and Park West Gallery offers art auctions on cruise ships and at luxury hotels and resorts. The training started a few days ago with arriving in Detroit and going to the Park West main gallery in Southfield, Michigan. Now I am in Miami at their large framing and training facility, working on becoming an art associate and eventually an art auctioneer. After several weeks at the training, several of my colleagues went on a break to check out a Banksy exhibit that was being put on in the neighborhood of Wynwood. The exhibit was full of many of Banksy's works ad not entirely sure if this exhibit was put on with their permission, but it was pretty interesting.

Who Banksy?

It doesn't take long from a quick internet search to see all the many accumulated murals Banksy has completed around the world in public spaces to see that this individual has been creating art in the public eye for a while now. And still, the identity of the artist is not 100% entirely certain of who this individual is. When running a search online, you will see results claiming that it is believed to be an individual named Banksy, commonly thought to be Robin Gunningham, as first identified by The Mail on Sunday in 2008. The reality is that this individual is still not been identified. I hope it remains this way as this is what adds to this artist's work of displaying many topics and themes in their artwork of anti-authoritative art coming from an unidentified person as if to represent there are. The message is more significant than their name and brand themselves. Quite spectacular to view his art in person, and most people who have seen and been exposed to various forms of the artist in modern times will always be able to recognize the uniqueness of Banksy's style immediately.

Thank you to Megan Badger and Clayton Van Dyk for a great time seeing the Banksy Exhibit in Miami, Florida, and for the Banksy handshake! Thank you both for tagging along and bringing good art vibes! Blessed to have the opportunity to have seen a Banksy exhibit and get a better sense of what this artist has created and more of the "why" behind his being genuine self creations. Highly recommend this exhibit that is put on by Banksy's ex-manager.
